Advertise with the Best Theater in the Country

The Alamo Drafthouse has consistently been voted the Best Theater in Austin in the Austin Chronicle’s Readers Poll since our first year of operation. In 2005 our crown got even bigger when Entertainment Weekly proclaimed us to be the #1 Movie Theater in the Nation. What makes us so good? Well, for starters there’s the fact that we serve quality food and drinks and deliver it right to the customer’s table while he’s watching a movie. Then there’s our superior presentation, handled by experienced projectionists who know how to keep a movie looking crisp and clear on our silver screens. And there’s our attention to details about the theater-going experience that includes an entertaining video preshow themed to fit each film, a zero tolerance for talking during the show, and limits on when we allow children into the theater. Of course, on top of all of that, there’s also our wide array of specialty programming, the likes of which are often unavailable in any other venue in the world.

All three of our locations feature a wide array of movies and interactive shows that can’t be duplicated anywhere else, and our Downtown theater is programmed with unique content every day of the week. Because we’ll have 15 events happening each week in addition to the regular slate of first-run Hollywood movies, our customers have come to rely on our website, email newsletters, and most importantly, our Alamo Guide, to make sure that they’re up on all the current goings-on. Our in-house team of Creative Directors programs our theaters, puts together specialty shows, and produces all of our promotional materials – from video trailers that we play before all of our movies, to unique external websites for specific events, and all of our print and web marketing as well. And now we’d like to invite you to join us for the ride.

The Alamo Guide

As the essential guide for any film-lover in Austin (and who in this town isn’t a cinephile?), the Alamo Guide has an average of 60,000 readers every two months, and the vast majority of those readers keep their Guide out and consult it regularly at least once a week to keep themselves informed on the best entertainment options in town. We create the Guide with the reader in mind and is laid out to be an easy to consult publication that people can turn to time and time again. We know that it works, because it’s also the main tool we use to keep ourselves on track with all the crazy plans and shows we’ve got brewing. Of course, we also use the Alamo Guide as a marketing tool for our own events, so we know firsthand that as a means of advertising it is far and away the number one most effective publication for reaching the entertainment-oriented Austinite.

More Than Just Pictures & Words

Of course, we realize that we aren’t the only free-distribution publication in town that’s vying for your support. That’s why in addition to creating the most effective method of print-based advertising for your money we also offer several other incentives for our advertisers by giving you the chance to sponsor a series or specific show in a cross-promotion that can put your name on our screens, your business in our lobby, and also put your information on our posters that are hung in our theaters and around Austin, in our print ads in other publications, on our website, and in our weekly emailed newsletter edition of the Alamo Guide that currently has over 50,000 subscribers. No other media outlet in town can offer you that kind of exposure, and no one else can beat our prices, either

Sponsoring a show or series takes your advertising to the next level by associating your name with one of our unique events and affording you the opportunity for the following methods of connecting your message with our audiences:

HOW X-PROMOS WORK:

When you sign a six or twelve-month contract to advertise in the Alamo Guide, we’ll say thank you by giving you a basic level cross-promotion opportunity absolutely free! Depending on the show you would like to sponsor (and depending on the availability of a sponsorship for that show), your basic level cross-promotion will include a logo on all 11 of our screens in the video trailer for the show, listing you as a sponsor and showing your information to more than 15,000 pairs of eyes each week. You’ll also get a link to your website on the show description page of our website and any external sites we set up for the show you’re helping us promote. In addition to that, your name will be listed in our Chronicle ad as a sponsor during the week of the show and we’ll include you in any other print ads we run for the show, too! As if all that wasn’t enough, we’ll also let you distribute flyers or other literature to the patrons that are coming to the show that you will be a part of. Wow!

If you’d like to run more than one cross-promo event during the run of your advertising contract, you can always purchase another one. Advertisers in the print version of the Alamo Guide have exclusive rights to purchase cross-promos and shows are generally assigned to specific businesses on a first-come, first-served basis. Your account representative will work with you to help you choose the right event for your promos and to make sure all the details are perfect. More details on all of those upgrades can be found on the Rates page of this media kit.

Of course, there is one little catch: not every show will be available for sponsoring, and some shows that are accepting sponsors might not include every aspect of a cross-promotion. We don’t make a video trailer for every single specialty show we produce, and we don’t get to list each show in our Chronicle ad, or make posters for every show, either. Check with your sales representative to see which sorts of services are available for the show you’d like to sponsor, though, and we’ll make sure everything works out for you.

ON THE SCREEN: Sponsors have a chance to have their logo on all 12 of our screens for three weeks in a video trailer for the show they are presenting! And on the night of the show you’re sponsoring, we’ll start our ad reel with an NPR-style intro featuring your logo and a brief audio message.
ON THE INTERNET: If your business has a web presence, take advantage of this chance to have a link to your site on our show description page on our website and be listed in our weekly email newsletter that gets sent out to 50,000+ people each and every week!
IN THE THEATER: Connect with the audience on a personal level and offer your goods and services directly at the theater! Sponsors are welcome to set up tables with information or items to sell (subject to approval) in the lobby of the theater during the show they are presenting.
IN OUR ADS: Still can’t decide which print media in town to spend your ad budget on? By becoming a presenter with us, your name and logo can appear in our print ads in the Chronicle and on posters that are hung all over town.
